A lot of people claim to be anorexic but they're not. They TRY to be. I am not sure why...why can't they just say I want to lose weight? They want to be thought of as anorexic I guess. When I think of anorexia I think of some one who eats very very little and who exercises in excess...most people on here attemp to fast and fail. Its ridiculous. Then they say they failed "ana." Like ana is a person...its stupid in my opinion. People who really are anorexic need help. Anorexia is becoming a trend like self-mutilation.

Real anorexics really don't see their body as other people do. Or by the time they realize it it is too late. I think a part of them forgets how to take care of themselves over time. Like smoking is an addiction. It is very hard to quit. Anorexia is an addiction. It is hard to quit. And if these people get help and start to eat again is takes them a while to gain weight and a lot of them get ill. They can't just start eating normally again. These people get lost in this disease. A lot of schizophrenics refuse treatment b/c the meds make them very tired or they lose their "friends" and become depressed. Its kind of like anorexia. Anorexia becomes a lifestyle.

I don't think you can simply classify people who are anorexic as people who want to be skkinny. People can develop the illness for all kinds of reasons as a way of punishing themselves for example. Anorexics don't look at themselves and see a person who is unhealthily skinny they look at themselves and see a hideous fat monster of a person. Personally I think for most Anorexia is a way for people to show there hurting on the inside in a physical way. It gets to the point they can no longer say why there doing it just that thats what there mind is telling them to. They become isolated and it f***s up there relationships with everyone. Anorexia is often only one mental illness that comes with others depression and often OCD. Even when a person has physically recovered it can still creep up on them, still haunt them. There are days when people will want to go back to it when it tempts them with promises of beauty but more importantly control and power over themselves when nothing else in their life has any kind of order.

Sorry for writing all this but it's something I have very strong feelings about and I think like you wish that people would understand.

You shouldhave also mentioned how it completely controls your life, how its all that you think about, how it alienates you from you friends and family, how any weight you do loose from it you nearly always gain back, how once your past a certain point it doesnt go away even if you want it to, how in most people, after getting "better", it will always find a way of coming back to you.
